‘Artbomb: connect – create’ is not your average exhibition. Artbomb brings together a diverse range of artists, writing and performance groups from the Georges River area to paint or draw on the walls of Hurstville Museum & Gallery, and conduct art workshops within this space. This unique exhibition will allow visitors to work alongside professional artists, or simply watch them develop ideas, create, work or join discussions. Joining the exhibition at Hurstville Museum & Gallery are two works presented by Shopfront, best before and NOXIOUS.
‘best before’ (Keila Terencio & Sudheera Dissanayake)
Saturday 13 June – Sunday 28 June
Performance Saturday 27 June at 11am (10 mins)
best before is a melancholic and honest reflection of our bodies’ physical responses to feelings and thoughts. The work captures some of the zeitgeist of this moment in history, our struggles with the new social codes, mental health and our attachment to little treasures. best before is an installation and video work.
‘NOXIOUS’ (Lucy Wylie & Nicole Pingon)
Saturday 11 July – Sunday 26 July
Performance Saturday 25 July (11am – 1pm, Durational Performance)
NOXIOUS is an exploration of our relationship to native plants and common weeds, found in the Georges River Area. The work will involve a botanical mural, movement exploration, poetry, craft in collaboration with audience members, and potential for spontaneous performative actions in response to the material.
