Shopfront is pleased to announce that Lauren Scott Young is our new Director of Young Artist Programs!
Many of you will know Lauren well from her work with young people teaching theatre and film workshops for the past three years. Lauren trained as an actor and performer at the University of Wollongong, has performed both locally and overseas, and has extensive experience working in ensemble performance groups.
“A lot of my work is with ensembles, and that’s the kind of work we do here at Shopfront – so it’s cool to be able to pass on any knowledge I have about ensembles and to, in turn, be taught by young people,” Lauren said.
Lauren was first welcomed to the Shopfront community back in 2014 when she performed in an ArtsLab work. It was love at first sight.
“I fell in love with Shopfront when I first came into the space,” Lauren said.
“It was lovely, as a scared, shy, emerging artist to come into a space that was so welcoming, generous and free from pretence,” she said.
Lauren is looking forward to taking our Shopfront workshop programs from strength to strength, and working with our members to ensure that their voices are heard, and that Shopfront continues to be a welcoming place for creative expression.
