Open Shop
Our short-term residency program
What is Open Shop?
Open Shop is an open creative development program for young, emerging, and early career artists who need space to develop an idea or rehearse a production.
Is Open Shop for me?
Open Shop is available to young, self-identified emerging and early career artists.
We are committed to creating inclusive and accessible opportunities for all artists to create new work in any form: dance, visual art, theatre, film, music, performance, digital art and more. Open Shop is for early-career artists aged 18 – 26. We welcome diversity and encourage artist submissions from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people with disability.
Successful applicants will be required to become Shopfront members.
How will Open Shop help me as an emerging artist?
- Access to rehearsal space – average one day per week.
- Basic artistic support from Shopfront Artistic Team – coffee chats, feedback, ideas.
- Reduced rate technical assistance for any showings (must be arranged in advance).
