It is with a heavy heart that we bid a very big bon voyage to Hannah Strout, our beloved Director of Young & Emerging Artists Programs.
Hannah started with Shopfront more than 6 years ago as a humble volunteer stage manager for Junior Ensemble, and since then has made her mark in multiple positions with Shopfront, being that welcoming face we all know and love. During Hannah’s time at Shopfront she has worked on 75+ workshops, 12 End of Term events, 7 Junior Ensemble productions, 5 major productions, 5 ArtsLab seasons, 4 RAW productions, 2 Senior Ensemble productions, and has unlocked the door to the building more than 1,500 times! Hannah has been a key part of Shopfront’s evolution during that time and we will really miss her.
“I’ve seen Shopfront grow and change so much in the time I’ve been here, but in the last year I’ve seen things happen and come together that we’ve been waiting on for a long time,” Hannah says. Seeing our vision coming to fruition is an emotional thing! I feel so proud to have been part of the co-op as we have changed and grown”
Hannah is off on new adventures interstate, and we have the daunting task of finding a new Director of Young & Emerging Artists Programs to fill her vegan-friendly shoes. But Hannah assures us that she will miss us as much as we will miss her.
“Without a doubt the thing I will miss the most is the people,” Hannah says. “The young people, the parents, the staff and board. I truly feel that Shopfront is a community, and it’s such a lovely feeling to feel a part of that community. There is respect and understanding and support and love in this community. Being part of it changes you – makes you stronger and smarter and more resourceful. I just know that even in 10 years’ time, I’ll still feel a part of it because it has changed me forever.”
Hannah will be leaving Shopfront at the beginning of March. Make sure you stop in and say goodbye and good luck before she goes.
