Shopfront friends, it’s a difficult time for Youth Arts in Australia. We also lost our four-year funding along with other significant youth arts companies, and we stand beside those mentioned in this article. We’re working hard to assess what this means for Shopfront going forward, but what we can promise is that we are committed to remaining the home of youth arts. For more than four decades we have stood as Sydney’s only cross-art form organisation led by and dedicated to the artistry of Young People. We look forward to rallying that community of Young People – who throughout our history have shown their strength during times of crisis – to help steer us into a future. Although that future looks incredibly challenging without Australia Council funding – we will remain an inclusive community of artists sharing a common goal of making great art (and having a lot of fun along the way).
