|Maddie Chippendale – Maddie is Hamlet
Maddie is currently working on her production of “Hamlet” and shares with us some of her work in progress materials. Here is an extract from her script: Grief is partly constituted by a desire that what one believes or takes to be true should not be so. I missed it, the part I was most afraid of. The un-becoming bit, the bit where life ends; unravels. I don’t know how this happens. What it looks like. I was spared this unknown. Instead, we were offered the sobering practicalities. Profit and ritual intertwine. It has to be done. Somehow. Me. My sister. Us. We feel too young and yet we are also old enough.
