PHILIP SANSOM is a Councillor (and Emeritus Mayor) on Hurstville City Council and has extensive experience on various board appointments, committees and in local government. He trained as a high school art teacher and spent 25 years teaching, 19 years as Head Teacher of Expressive and Performing Arts Departments. Philip is currently Chair of the Australia Day Botany Bay Regatta Committee, a Director on the St George Basketball Association and Cooks River Alliance Boards, and a member of the Metro South West National Parks and Wildlife Service Regional Advisory Committee. Philip was also Chair of the Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority from 2008 to 2011. Philip has a Diploma in Art (Education), Graduate Diploma in Expressive and Performing Arts, Master of Education and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has maintained a long held love of live theatre, regularly attending both drama and music productions, and is well aware of the activities of Shopfront Arts Co-op Ltd, especially as his three sons attended.
