Like many actresses, Ashi fell into performing arts at a young age and started dancing at Dance Ink in (2005) where she learnt Jazz, Tap and Contemporary dance throughout her schooling years.
In high school, Ashi started exploring theatre and the craft of acting, annually participating in her school’s Dance and Drama Showcase. In year 10 her drama class went on to perform their devised sketch The Real Housewives of Shakespeare at the Ultimo Public School Drama Festival at NIDA’s Parade Theatre.
During her school years Ashi also participated in musical productions outside of school such as High School Musical Jr and Grease. She went on to take Dance, Drama and Music as part of her HSC. After completing her HSC, Ashi decided to further her studies in Acting and undertook an Advanced Diploma in Acting (Theatre and Screen) at Sydney Theatre School. With her classmates, they are in the process of bringing Shakespeare’s rare tale Cymbeline, directed by Damien Ryan, to Australian stages under their new independent co-op – The First Straw Co-op. Ashlene is honoured to be a part of Shopfront’s CALD Panel as she believes to see true diversity on Australian screens and stages, we need to first diversities behind the scenes. Who better to create roles for POC and People with disabilities than people who are a part of those communities
