Frank Newman

Director

Frank Newman is a director, community arts worker and senior cultural programmer. He currently works for the Sydney Opera House leading two programs: Creative Play and Creative Leadership In Learning. Frank is a casual  lecturer at UTS in the Transdisciplinary School. From 2007-2012 Frank was Terrapin Puppet Theatre’s Artistic Director, winning a Helpmann Award for Best Production for Young Audiences. He is currently co-director of Artbomb, a transdisciplinary studio of artists, entrepreneurs and designers exploring the nexus of human centred design, systems thinking and immersive experiences. Frank was the founder of Spark Youth Theatre and has worked for many youth theatres around Australia. He has a Bachelor of Creative Arts, Majoring in Theatre Technology, from Wollongong University. Frank’s shows have played in major festivals and venues in Australia and around the world. Frank is part way through a Doctorate at the Queensland University of Technology researching creativity, site specific practice and creative learning.
